MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAMS WITH LOT71 AND LILLIAN AUGUST TO DESIGN THE MLB FAN CAVE FOR 2012

The MLB Fan Cave is spending Spring Training undergoing a creative redesign to its 15,000 square foot social media haven in the heart of New York City’s Greenwich Village. Major League Baseball has partnered with environment and installation designer Mike Brown and his team at Lot71 to design the exterior and top two floors of the MLB Fan Cave. Additionally, MLB has partnered with Lillian August, the Interior Design and Home Furnishings Company and one of their Senior Designers Angela Camarda to work with MLB to design the 2012 version of the MLB Fan Cave VIP Lounge. Set to be unveiled prior to Opening Day, the MLB Fan Cave will be home to nine fans who will watch every game of the MLB season in a unique event space mixing baseball with music, popular culture, media, interactive technology and art. Throughout the season, the MLB Fan Cave will host visits from the top MLB players and celebrities, Cave Concerts and special events for fans with a constant flow of online video and conversation via social media.

Designing professionally for over 15 years, Mike Brown, Principal of Lot71, is designing the main floors of the Cave to create a new and strikingly visual environment that capitalizes on unique architectural elements and interactive live experiences. Most recently in 2011, Brown and his team created large scale installation designs for Uniqlo at their 3 New York store locations, including the new 5th Avenue flagship location, as well as several in-store environments for Bulgari and Swarovski Crystallized in New York City. Lot71 lends its creative services for brands and agencies in the categories of Luxury & Lifestyle, Fashion & Retail, and Hospitality and Entertainment.

Lillian Augusts’ Senior Interior Designer Angela Camarda has designed custom made contemporary furniture that will boast a modern and chic vibe downstairs in the Cave Lounge. The Cave Lounge will merge the style of Lillian August with the colorful innovation of the Fan Cave. In the early 1980s, Lillian August, a talented interior designer and busy mother of three, launched a business selling crafts and patchwork quilts. Lillian August has since developed a global reputation as a trend setting resource for designers, homeowners and design enthusiasts. With a broad and eclectic collection of furniture, rugs, antiques and accessories, Lillian August now provides clients with inspiration and design services in five locations—the Norwalk Design Center and headquarters, South Norwalk Outlet, New York City, and Los Angeles stores.

With over 50 MLB players already confirmed to visit, the Fan Cave will complete finishing touches in time for Opening Day and will continue to intersect baseball and pop culture throughout the season. Major League Baseball will welcome nine fans who will begin the season in the MLB Fan Cave, watch every single MLB game each day, chronicle their experience via social media, and compete with each other along the way for the right to stay in the MLB Fan Cave through the World Series in October. Fans can follow the MLB Fan Cave on twitter @MLBFanCave.
